Everyone knows Britain is synonymous with fish and chips. But really, what’s all the fuss about?
Listen up! NOBODY makes fish and chips like the local Brit fishery does! Some like it, some don’t, but you’ve got to try it to know it!
Imagine. The juiciest fillet drenched in the smoothest batter, and fried till it’s as crisp as a wafer. But only to the perfect depth. Beneath that it’s just tender fish and soft batter. And imagine this being dished piping hot to your plate or your take-away box ot your paper cone, as the case may be. And that’s not it. It’s topped with chunky cuts of fried potato. The oh-so-famous British chips. And just when you think things can’t possibly get any better, you’re asked if you’d like some salt and vinegar. Oh yes dear God yes! And a sprinkling of pepper too. And some mayo please.
And you bite. Warm crunchy batter fried fish and soft potatoes; the vinegar tangy, and the salt and pepper tingling your tongue. And you know that this extremely affordable, extremely ubiquitous, extremely greasy bit of food is unmatched.
Do not compare it to the bread-crumb fried fish model a lot of us are familiar with! You’ll be doing the authentic British version a great injustice!
I’m curious to know what you think of it, by the way.
